Architect résumé example
An architect's portfolio shows the buildings; the résumé has to show the delivery: project size and budget, your stage and role on each, the approvals you carried, the software you model in. This example lists projects with square metres, budgets and outcomes, keeps the registration where it is found at once, and uses a restrained serif template that does not compete with the work.
Registered architect with eight years on housing and mixed-use projects from competition to completion, currently project architect on a 140-unit timber-hybrid scheme with a €38M construction budget. Has carried four projects through planning and permit, led BIM coordination in Revit for teams of up to twelve, and delivered the last two buildings within 2% of the tender sum. Draws details by hand first, then models them.
Experience
- Project architect for Kadehof, a 140-unit social and mid-rent housing block (16,800 m², €38M construction) in timber-hybrid structure; led the team of eight from design development through tender and now site, with the permit granted at the first submission.
- Coordinated the BIM model (Revit, LOD 350) across structure, MEP and façade consultants; clash count at tender fell from 1,200 to under 40 and no design-related change orders in the first year on site.
- Ran the client and municipal design review process for two projects, including the welstand committee; both approved without redesign.
- Delivered the Zuidkade conversion (an 1950s office to 62 apartments, 7,400 m²) at 1.8% over the tender sum and six weeks ahead of programme; BREEAM-NL Very Good.
- Mentor two junior architects and run the office's detailing reviews; the detail library grew to 240 reviewed assemblies used across projects.
- Led design development and construction documents for a 9,200 m² secondary school (€21M); building opened on schedule and won a regional architecture award in 2022.
- Produced the permit set and energy-performance documentation for three housing projects (totalling 210 units); all three permits granted within the statutory period.
- Set up the office's Revit template and family library, cutting documentation time on the next project by about 25%.
- Prepared competition entries for four invited competitions; two won, one built.
- Worked on planning and tender packages for two residential schemes (48 and 120 units) and built physical and digital models for client presentations.
- Coordinated the accessibility and fire-strategy drawings with consultants for a 120-unit scheme; approved without conditions.

Questions
The portfolio gets you the interview once the résumé has been read. The résumé has to say in a minute what you delivered (size, stage, approvals, cost) and link the portfolio once at the top.
Name your stage and role on each: 'design development and permit set', 'BIM coordination', 'site stage'. Credit the practice; claim the part you did.
No. Recruiters and applicant systems read it as text. Use a restrained template, one accent at most, real headings and no graphics; save the design for the portfolio.
Put the degree and the stage you are at ('Part 2', 'MSc, working towards registration in 2027') in the headline. List permit sets, competitions and software; registration will come.
