Cashier résumé example
A cashier's résumé is read in under a minute by a store or shift manager who wants three things confirmed: the till balances, customers leave happy, and the shifts get covered. This one-page example answers with numbers from the register (transactions per hour, cash variance, loyalty sign-ups, mystery-shopper score), uses a school job and volunteering to show reliability, and leaves out every generic phrase a manager has read a thousand times.
Summary
Cashier with three years at a busy grocery store and a pharmacy, handling up to 240 transactions a shift with a cash variance under $2 a month. Signed up more loyalty members than anyone on the front end for two quarters running, trained 6 new hires on the register, and has never missed a scheduled shift. Available for evenings, weekends and holiday peaks.
Experience
- Handle 180 to 240 transactions a shift across cash, card and mobile pay with an average scan rate of 24 items a minute, 4 above the store target.
- Kept monthly cash variance under $2 for 18 consecutive months against a store allowance of $10, with zero voided-transaction flags on audit.
- Signed up 310 loyalty members in 2024, the highest on a front end of 14 cashiers for two quarters running.
- Trained 6 new cashiers on the register, returns and age-restricted sales; all 6 passed the 30-day check with no coaching notes.
- Scored 96% and 98% on the two mystery-shopper visits in 2024 for greeting, speed and bagging.
- Ran the front register and the photo counter on 20-hour weeks while in school; balanced the drawer within $1 on 98% of shifts.
- Handled returns, prescription pickups at the front and insurance co-pay collection for about 90 customers a day without a single documented complaint.

Checks in and serves about 60 families each Saturday morning; has not missed a shift in 3 years.

Questions
Any job with money, customers or a schedule: babysitting with cash payments, a school canteen, volunteering at a fundraiser. Add a line on reliability (attendance, punctuality) and your availability. Managers hire attitude and train the register.
Yes, if it is good. 'Under $2 a month against a $10 allowance' is the single most convincing line on a cashier's résumé because it is the number managers worry about most.
One page, always. Two jobs with three to five bullets each, education and skills in a few lines. A store manager reads it between tasks.
Two or three sentences help: years of experience, the kind of store, one or two numbers and your availability. Skip it only if the page is already full of better evidence.
